Achieves Industry-Leading*1 Ultra-Low Quiescent Current (Iq) of 85 nA, New Release of the NC2650 Series, a Step‑Down DC/DC Switching Regulator
Nisshinbo Micro Devices Inc. announces the release of the NC2650 series, a synchronous step‑down DC/DC switching regulator featuring an ultra‑low quiescent current of 85 nA and a maximum output current of 1 A, designed for consumer applications.

NC2650 Series, WLCSP-6-ZA2 (1.47 × 0.87 × 0.4 mm)
As IoT technology advances, equipment with data communication capabilities is becoming more widespread. In particular, security equipment, industrial sensors, and IoT devices often rely on primary batteries for long-term operation. Therefore, reducing power consumption is critical to minimizing the frequency of equipment maintenance. Additionally, as wireless sensor network (WSN) equipment improves in terms of communication range and functionality, a power supply with the capability to handle increased currents during communication is also required.
This product is a step-down DC/DC switching regulator developed in response to these market demands. It features ultra-low quiescent current and high-current capability.
- Achieves industry-leading*1 ultra-low quiescent current (Iq) of 85 nA
It significantly reduces quiescent current in sleep mode, thereby helping to extend the battery life of IoT equipment and sensors with long standby times.
- Low ripple voltage and excellent load transient response
With a typical ripple voltage of 10 mVpp (IOUT = 500 mA) and a fast load transient response, it suppresses power supply fluctuations during data communication, thereby reducing transmission errors.
- High-efficiency operation across a wide range thanks to automatic PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation) alternating function
It operates in PFM mode at light loads and automatically switches to PWM mode as the load current increases. It maintains an efficiency level of 80% or higher across the entire light load range of 1 to 10 µA and supports output currents of up to 1 A.
- Shutdown function and auto-discharge function
The shutdown function via the EN pin is supported. The following auto-discharge options are available: with or without the function.
- With auto-discharge function: NC2650ZAxxxAE2S
- Without auto-discharge function: NC2650ZAxxxBE2S
- Ultra-compact WLCSP package
The WLCSP-6-ZA2 (1.47 × 0.87 × 0.4 mm) is suitable for high-density mounting, which contributes to the miniaturization of equipment.

Features
1. Industry-Leading Ultra-Low Quiescent Current and High-Efficiency Operation under Light to Heavy Loads
The NC2650 achieves an ultra-low quiescent current of 85 nA, one-third that of our existing products. Additionally, it has an automatic PWM/PFM alternating function that selects the optimal operating mode based on the output current. This maintains a high level of power conversion efficiency across a range of loads, from light to heavy. The product maintains the same high efficiency as existing products under heavy loads and achieves an efficiency of 80% or higher in the light-load range (IOUT = 1–10 µA), which is equivalent to standby mode. Thus, it achieves high efficiency across the entire load range. This helps extend the battery life of IoT equipment operating in an intermittent cycle that alternates between active (on) and standby (off) modes.

2. Supply Quality Thanks to Low Ripple Voltage and Fast Load Transient Response
Despite the difficulty of balancing low power consumption with low ripple voltage, this product achieves a typical ripple voltage of 10 mVpp (IOUT = 500 mA). Furthermore, improving its load transient response characteristics reduces the voltage drop to less than half of that of existing products. This ensures a stable power supply, even for noise-sensitive systems, such as wireless communication and sensor equipment.
