What are the characteristics of a negative voltage LDO regulator? Where is it used?

LDO Linear RegulatorsHow to use

A negative voltage LDO regulator is a type of LDO regulator whose input and output voltages are both negative.
The input voltage is regulated from high to low in absolute value.
(Ex.) Input: -5.5V, Output: -5V, etc.

In general, it is used in the negative power supply of dual power amplifiers. Also, instead of pulling down to GND, some applications use as the reference voltage a power source of around -1 V where noise is less generated. The negative source voltage is generated by a switching regulator, so this kind of LDO regulator can be used in order to smooth the negative gate voltage of display devices.
The graph below illustrates a typical characteristic of the input voltage versus the output voltage of a -1 V output product.
